hi; when any of you folks play out where do keep the level of volume on your guitar?should it be lower on the guitar and louder at the [acoustic amp] or should i keep the volume "up" on the guitar ? last nite i noticed my amp sounding a little distorted [playin "doc" stuff;light fingerpicking] .nothing loud here!thx!

I like to keep my guitar volumn at about 3/4 and then set the amp to what I need for the room.This leave's me a little step up control at the guitar.

It depends on what kind of preamp you have. The levels need to be in comfortable area at each stage. If the distortion is coming from the levels being out of whack (which isn't a guarenteed thing at this point) then you're probably overdriving something. If your overdriving something it would have to be input into amp right?
If it's not an impedance thing then basically you want levels hot enough to drive the next stage and be warm, without overdriving it.
Assuming you have this amp at home, then just play with it. To start you could use the extremes. Low output from guitar, high output from guitar.
Is preamp internal to guitar? Does it have input gaon control as well as output volume? Does amp have input gain? Does amp have different inputs you can use?
Is guitar only thing going in amp?  Without knowing I'd say just play with it and probably safest thing when in doubt and don't have time to check it out, is to have levels in the middle somewhere and get your volume from final volume out of amp.
