Was the amp on the floor or on a stand? If so,what is the floor's covering? How close to the amp were you sitting/standing?Where you tucked into a corner or up against  a flat wall?

You may be to close.Best suggestion is set the eq flat to start if you have a long enough cord step out in front about 6-10 feet away {if you can} and listen closely. If your hearing to much bass try adjusting the mid control first before removing bass. Its a weird dance sometime's adjusting the eq.Play around as much as you can at home.Sometime's adding something {treb, mids} works in your favor over removing something {bass} in this case.Never the less really getting to know your controls and how adjusting one thing effects the other.

This is pretty much a spot-on description of how John Standefer (LarrivĂ©e endorsee) played his L in concert at our church - Ultrasound on a chair, about 6-10 feet behind him.  He played this way the whole concert.  I thought it would be a feedback nightmare, but it was not.
