Title: New Tunning Keys for P03R?
Post by: webberink on July 01, 2011, 02:14:12 PM
I think I am going to change the tuning Keys on my P03R.  The stock mini keys seem to be, I don't know, just a tad sloppy perhaps is the best way to put it.  Any way I have come to like the full size Larrivee Ping tuners over time on my other Larrivees, although somewhat reluctantly.  I do like the clean look of the stock tuners with the standard chrome buttons.  I am looking at the Gotoh mini keys as shown on the site below.  Can any body give me some feedback.  Are these mini keys a good upgrade.  Are they a drop in replacement?

Can I jump on that bandwagon and ask what type of tuners have
people switched to on the D-03r? Grover, Gotoh's, etc...? :wave

Here are som3 pics of my Gotoh black chrome 510's on my L-03W.

These were a drop in replacement from Stewmac.com.

They are very precise and seem to stay in tune very well.

Go for it! :beer

The mini and full size have different angles. Here is a sticky on Gotoh right here on the tech child board. http://www.larriveeforum.com/smf/index.php?topic=16491.0

Thanks for the sticky Michael, very informative.  But getting back to my original question ... are the Gotoh  mini Keys on the AllParts web page that I listed a fully drop in replacement on the P-03 ( I suppose they are the same keys on the 12 strings and some of the Forum guitars as well)?  It looks like they are a drop in replacement from the diagrams but has anyone on the Forum used them?  Is the quality such that the modification is worth while? :?
Thanks
Dave

I used the 360"s on my 12 string for a faster ratio and they were a drop in for the ebony mini's that came on it. I also went with 510's on my DV09 with some custom made tortoise, again straight drop in, just check the angle on the anchor arm, or call Scott @ Domo international (see the same stickey).

Michael,
nice job on the conversions.  I just emailed Scott At Domo Int'l.
Thanks
