Title: Saddle advice
Post by: Ricky P on June 10, 2011, 06:37:27 AM
Got my L-05-12 home and love it. Going to a chap I use in Leeds UK to set up my guitars. I am having an under saddle pick up fitted. Is it worth getting a bone saddle fitted whilst he's on with it? What are the benefits and where in the uk would I get one made??  Would a universal 12 string saddle fit or do they have to be model specific? thanks

Hey Ricky  :+1:
Congratulations on your guitar man!
The saddle should be a standard 1/8" width one with compensation for the B-string.
I reckon the guy who does the set-up should know where to get a bone saddle. Bone is good...
Enjoy her!!!

I don't think I would recommend a under saddle pick up for a 12, too much going on with them. Look into a sound "board" transducer to avoid quack and get a less twangy reproduction.

+100!

Too many good choices for alternatives to USTs.  The chap in Leeds should know about them.  K+K, LR Baggs, etc.  Then you don't have to worry about a new saddle to begin with.
