I've always been searching for the perfect set of guitar strings. At the end of 2010 I was smitten by DR Sunbeams and posted a glowing review. I've been using DR Sunbeams exclusively in 2011. For some reason I grew tired of these strings and decided to change things up. I went back to GHS Laurence Juber strings and I'm glad I did. That's not to say that these strings are better or worse then the DR's but they different and different is what I was looking for. In the end it's fun to try different strings and experiment. My quest for the perfect string is over.Viva la difference
Congrats on finding the one's that work for you.Me Dean Markley and D'Addarrio's.

For some unfathomable reason, I suspect that in a few months, you tired of these new strings, and found yet another love of your life.
Are those the ones with the gold plain strings? I thought they were quite good as well. I've been using Pearse for a while. I'd try Newtones again if they were cheaper.
Meh. The best strings? 6 ... new. :whistling:

Yes, the G string is wound and the high B and E are plated. The strings are also deep frozen ( criogenically treated ). I'm, not suggesting that these strings are the best but rather they are a bit different and I'm enjoying them. I also like Daddarrio's, DR's Dean markleys and few others. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I enjoy trying different sets rather committing myself to the " perfect set" I'll enjoy the diversity instead.
I have to admit after trying different strings on and off over the years, I alway come back to the Elixir nano's. They just sparkle in my ears on my L-10.
I'ma John Pearse guy myself. I always go back to them.
The best strings are different strings. Sooner or later.

Price is no object for me when it comes to Newtones because I only change strings once or twice a year. I seem to remember changing strings sometime before Christmas, so I guess it's just about time. The old ones still sound fine, however, so maybe I'll wait a bit.

Ain't that the truth. I used to change strings regularly and know when I did but then ... I used to own one acoustic. :arrow
I write the date and which guitar on the string package and hang them on a hook above the changing station. Otherwise I would never remember.

My two standbys as well. But I like to mix em up and experiment. The DR RARES paid off BIG time on my F-IV.
Roger, I have a business card (Elderly's) that I use the back of to note the date and what string (if I change type/brand)--it stays in the storage box of the case.
Danny, I just put some Rares on my L03W, and I really liked them initially, but I am finding they have too much overtone/reverb--especially when capoed. I am going to give them a little more time. I wonder if that isnt the because of the decreased tension? So many strings...
I do so enjoy the Journey.

Elixirs may not be popular on this forum but they are now in fact the most popular acoustic guitar strings in th USA. I look forward to trying them out on my L03/
i have been using daddarios EJ 17's and EJ 19's exclusively for the past 2 years. Havent grown weary of them yet. Hopefully I wont, Daddario has a nice players point reward program!
I try different strings all the time, but always come back to D'Addario. I use both coated and uncoated versions of EJ-17's, EJ-19's and sometimes EJ-12's.

Try DR Sunbeams, round "core" a lot less than importing Newtone and in all honsty I like them better. Here's a review or two by a couple pros that "Maury" (thank you sir) posted on his site.:

I believe the perfect string hasn't been produced yet. If it had, we all would use it, that's ok with me though, why only buy strawberry when there's vanilla too?
