Title: Ls-09w
Post by: JohnM2001 on November 29, 2004, 10:48:49 PM
No affiliation, but saw this one on harmony central, seems to be a rather unusual Larrivee, if anyone is looking for an LS guitar, I love my walnut OM:

FS Larrivee LS-09W
Asking Price: US$1050
Condition: Mint
Age: N/A
Description:
Beautiful Larrivee LS-09W. Lightly bear clawed spruce top. Walnut back
and sides. This is an L shaped body, but slightly smaller. It is about the
size of a large classical. It is a specialty guitar for Larrivee now, so you
don't come across them often. Great for fingerstyle, but isn't shy of
strumming either. Mint with OHSC. Pics available. $1050 obo. Thanks!

Mike

I emailed back and forth with him and got pics.....it is a rather bland walnut back and sides.  He does seem eager to get rid of it and was interested in trades......

Silly responding to a post this old, I know, but I ran across it doing an LS-09 search.  I too was considering this guitar back in '04 when Mr. Hoyt was selling it on Harmony Central.  Passed on it at the time, then a couple years later ended up buying it for $300 more from, I believe, someone on this Forum.  Best Larrivee purchase I've ever made, and I've owned a LOT of really nice ones.  This has been my go-to guitar for the last 18 months, to the point of liquidating my other Larrivees (but for an all mahogany P-03).  I do believe the LS is the most sublime body style Larrivee has ever made.  And that "bland" walnut sounds like the heavens parting.

I couldn't agree more... although I like my dread, my L and my OMs, my LS guitars are the ones I go to the most.
In a league all their own.   :nice guitar: 's

I guess I should throw in my vote too. LS.   I think the 000's are the same basic size though. Or am I wrong?

I would have to be a coma not to say anything on this one!

I just acquired my LS-05 and it is clearly the best Larrivee I have ever played...well the D-03R I had was pretty nice too...but I just got back from leading music at church with the LS and it was fantastic.  Far better than me.    This guitar seems to be very clear fundamentally, yet there are rich overtones too.  Simply lovely.   Long live the LS!  I wonder what a rosewood or walnut sounds like.  Bad thought.  Don't think it again.  Do not think it again.   I have my hands squeezing my head but it is not working.

For info purposes only, NOT for sale, but here's a few, quick & dirty: L-03W (http://home.ca.rr.com/honkytone/L03-W.jpg)

I remember the first time around my reason for passing on this guitar was that it didn't have the microdot fret markers, a hallmark feature I thought no Larrivee should be without.  I still do think that, but I've gotten over it on this guitar.

Such a beautiful guitar.  I love that body shape.  Now I want to look around for one like it.  Thanks!

That is one very nice guitar. A contender for GOTM perhaps? John

Just found Mike Hoyt's 2005 Forum ad for this guitar.  Looks like it sat on Harmony Central for a year before he finally sold it to Big Martin here!  And Frank is whom I eventually bought it from, I think in early '07:

http://www.larriveeforum.com/smf/index.php?topic=8885.0 (http://www.larriveeforum.com/smf/index.php?topic=8885.0)

I just got around finally to polishing out some hefty leveling scratches left on the frets and seating the loose fret ends—they were actually catching the high E string off the edge of the fret board if the strumming got a little too ambitious!  These guitars do hold up under strumming btw—they're hardly fingerpickers only.  Another thing I've grown fond of about this guitar—which I thought was odd at the time for a Larrivee—is the rosewood peghead overlay without the silver border stripe.  Ends up being a pretty distinctive feature.

No, the LS is a good deal smaller than the 000. My LS is the smallest of my five Larrivees. Very close in size to the parlour.

This doesn't sound right? maybe you've confused the Ls with the OO's ?
