I just saw this movie last night. It's hard to believe that a guitar in that condition can sound like that. A great movie with an L-05 cameo in one of the later scenes.
I loved the movie, but I did not notice the L09 !
I only became familiar with his "Falling Slowly" which was a piece that was part of Richard Gilewitz's Gilla Camp. Glen plays in in normal tuning but for the camp we tuned the 6th string (low E) up a 1/2 step to F. It was to demonstrate an alternate tuning that makes it very easy to play.
And that poor Takamine! It truly is amazing how an abused instrument can sound good. It runs circles around 'Trigger' (Willie's axe).

It was in a scene around the studio session. They must have been on a break and were over at Marketa's apartment. It was an L-05 and the bass player was holding it. I would love to see them live, but I don't expect they'll ever come to Maine.
Long-time lurker, first-time poster...
Yeah, it's amazing how much better Hansard's beat up guitar sounds than a newer one he's played (Jimmy Kimmel show, perhaps?). The new guitar sounded choked off and tight, while the workhorse just sounds beautiful.
They tour as the Swell Season, and they've done a couple different outings, so I wouldn't be surprised if they showed up in Maine.
Oh yeah, one other thing...

Alantig, Welcome to the forum and thanks for the donuts! You're definitely a lurker in good standing knowing that you have to bring donuts. Now, just stick around for a long time!
Again, welcome.

Swell season was one of the most amazing shows that I have ever seen live. Seen them twice and would stand in line for 24 hours in the freezing cold for good seats to a concert. Glen was an amazing guitarist with the frames and still is...amazing songwriter.
Swell Season is headlining our Ann Arbor Folk Festival the end of January 2011. I have worked this show the last few years & will again if I'm in town that weekend.
Terrible tragedy at their Saratoga show in August.
January isn't a good time for travel for me as I live over near Calais and Mainers know what winter travel can be like. I'd really like to see them though.
