Does anyone know the correct string spacing for the Larrivee 000-60? It appears to measure 2 1/4. However I think it is supposed to be 2 3/16

HI Mark, I'm not sure without seeing it. Perhaps you should show us what it looks like. :gotpics: :bgrin:

My 000-50 is 2 3/16" at the saddle

I always thought Larrivee's pyramid bridges were 2-1/4" and the regular "belly" bridge was 2-3/16".
So we're saying 2 3/16's Vs. 2 4/16's. Seems that if you used heavier strings it would be about the same as the narrower with lighter gauge.
Still I like 2-1/4 better if I can get it.

I find the difference between 2-3/16 and 2-1/4 to be huge, regardless of string gauge. I play strictly fingerstyle though so maybe that's why. I have a couple of guitars that are 2-5/16 and I find them to be perfect.

I don't mean to hijack, but I'm curious, what are they?

Hi Leray1,
One is a Silver Creek T-160. Opinions on these and probably the guitars themselves vary a lot but I believe I have a good one. The previous owner had a nice setup done + bone nut/saddle. It's got a V-neck which ain't for everyone but I like it just fine. I have (2) Larrivee OM's and wish the necks had a little more depth. String spacing at the saddle is actually 2-3/8". If your looking for an affordable new steel string w/ more than 2-3/16" at the saddle, this is one of the few. I like the sound as well - definitely more of a Martin tone than a Larrivee tone. Also have an old P'Mico all birch ladder-braced parlor which is killer for old ragtime/blues tunes and Harmony H-165 (1-3/4" at the nut and 2-1/4" at the saddle). All mahagony/ladder-braced. Both had neck resets and have a tone generally not available in new guitars.
Some old posts w/ string spacing info:

My 93 Martin OM-21 had 2 1/4 spacing at the saddle and a nut slightly wider than 1 3/4, even though specs. say it's 1 3/4. And that extra room does help with finger style, for sure.
I had the Larrivee 000-60BZ set up at the Podium in St. Paul by my buddy the wizard luthier (Marty). He measured 2 1/4 at the bridge and tried several Mitchel platemates. The 2 1/4 platemate fit perfectly.

I'd like to know if the "platemate" really enhanced the sound or diminished it a little.
These sound like a very good idea to protect the bridge plate from damage.

:+1: - 1-13/16 at the nut, and 2-5/16+ at the saddle - wonderful setup for us ham-handed types trying to play fingerstyle. Soft C neck, pyramid bridge, 24.75 scale,
Of, wait, I think I need to jump over to the F-V thread -
