Title: Anyone play A/E bass thru an acoustic amp?
Post by: Wannabee on August 24, 2010, 10:24:54 PM
I am needing to buy an amp for my acoustic/electric bass guitar. If I buy a bass amp,I just have a bass amp.If I could use an acoustic guitar amp,(with an XLR input) it would be much more useful, even doubling as a small PA system.  Does anyone play an acoustic/electric bass through an acoustic guitar amp? Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

That sounds like a good option,Thanks.        I am still wondering if an acoustic guitar amp would handle an acoustic/electric bass guitar.

Carvin makes an acoustic guitar amp AG 100. It has a switch to turn off the tweeter to allow use as a bass amp. I use it for guitar and like it.

Clarence Treat who plays/played with the New Christy Minstrels used one of these for both his electric bass and his Takamine 12. Sounded good for both.

Thanks so much for the suggestions.   I decided on a Bass amp. I pre-ordered a new product From Gallien Krueger at musicians friend. It is a MB 112. 200 watts to a 12" speaker,XLR out and weighs 28 pounds. It should be great and just what I need.  Thanks again
