Title: C-19 Info
Post by: prsphantom on July 18, 2010, 11:09:48 AM
I just purchased a C19 for what I feel was a steal, but I was wondering what others feel the going price for a used one is. It has victoria on the label (even though I know they used those labels a bit after), but this still puts it at the early 80s and other than a very small scratch and a little finish bubble around two of the tuning pegs, it is immaculate and sounds beautiful with the standard torch inlays and a large eagle headstock inlay. What would everyone feel an acceptable price would be for this guitar?

Pictures would help (you will need 10 posts before you can post directly in the Forum).

$1200 to $1400 would be reasonable, depending on location and condition/playability.

Last i traded my 2009 Gibson J45 for A 1995 C19 with an eagle head headstock and we were both asking for 1900$ CND as a selling price. Mine was in perfect shape and his had seen a lot of playing but was in good shape. Everyone i asked if i was making a good trade tod me to jump on it so if you can get it at a lower price than what i was asking for then jump on it i have no regret but i do miss the Gibson twang.
Does yours look like this:

I appreciate the info. I have heard anywhere between 1600 and 3000 but was still curious. I may enter the serial number. Can't seem to find it though. Eagle seems to be different. The serial number should be located on the end of the neckblock, which you can see through the soundhole.

Thank you for the welcome! I looked there but Larrivee chose that spot for the placement of battery in the no-cut system. Don't know if I should try to pull it off.

I believe your C-19 is from 1990 +/- a year or two.

This one of mine is from 1991.  http://randyrick.us/guitars/LarriveeC19zebrawood.htm

Like I said, it has the Victoria label on it. Would they have been using these 8 years after they moved?

Yes. The Victoria label was used up until 1994 even though they had moved. See the  Larrivee customer service web site.

Wow, didn't realize. Thanks! I may put this up for sale on here soon. I still have my OM-03, D-03, L-03, and D-02....Having buyers remorse for paying what I did. lol

I wouldn't have any remorse. The quality of the guitars during this period is among the best of the Larrivee instruments.

How does it play and sound? what else could you buy in the price range you paid for it that would be better?

Oh, the instrument sounds amazing. Its playability is almost as sweet as my OM model, and the tone is great...its just spending that chunk of change when the others I have fulfill my needs.

Randy nailed it. So you decided to keep it?

Thanks for the update.

Surprisingly at the behest of my wife, I decided to keep it. She says it sounds sweeter than any guitar she has heard me play. I went to return it and she protested...thats rare! :-) So I had it set up and am presently enjoying its sweet sound! :-)
