This is one of the extra un-numbered ones and has 00-03 rather than Forum IV on the label.
Like new, played for less than a couple of hours - I just can't get used to the body size!
This thing is a little cannon - nice bright tone and good projection, lots of reviews on the FIV thread etc.
Clear pickguard installed, case included with truss rod tool.
$900 plus shipping in North America, if paying by Paypal add 1.5% to the grand total.
Need to move this to finance another git! (I'll also be parting with my F-III RW/IS w/HB purfling - email if interested in that one)

Bite your tongue ! :bgrin: That would be a shame since there are other right handed 00-03s that come up from time to time... not likely to see that many lefties turn up.. Ironically this is the exact guitar I was hoping the Forum III would turn out to be; not that I'm at all disappointed with the LS-03MT that was decided upon instead. I can't say my fingers aren't itching a bit to try it out but, alas, financial considerations prohibit buying it right now,
Good luck with the sale Mike. Somebody out there is a good match for that guitar.

Hi Mike,
This is tempting.
UncleRob,
Is this just a matter of swapping out the nut and saddle for right-handed counterparts?
I'm guessing that the saddle would just be a drop-in and easily done while adding an Under Saddle Transducer or pickup of some kind
but I'd probably need help doing the nut.
Lynn,
I understand that it's probably sinister sacriledge to be threatening to take a left-handed instrument out of circulation.
Sorry...
If conversion is not that big a deal for a qualified person why don't more lefties convert righties as certainly greater availability :? :?
I apolologize for the slight hijack :cheers

Joyce, It's not really necessary to convert rigthies to lefties these days with the availability of high quality lefties from companies such as Larrivee. From a practical standpoint conversion from either left to right or right to left is pretty simple and straightforward. Being a lefty I've done it a couple of times. As mentioned above, nut needs to be replaced and either a new bridge installed or the old bridge saddle slot gets filled in and a new saddle slot routed in for proper intonation. Pickguards can be problematic and sometimes they need to be removed and a new opposite-handed one installed. In the case of Mike's 00 it looks like there is either no pickguard or a clear one so it may not even enter into the conversation. Aside from these alterations you should be good to go on a conversion with a relatively small outlay of cash. The last one I had professionally done cost me around $150 or so and you can't tell it was ever a righty. The only tell-tale sign now is the fret-markers on the side of the fretboard. They are, of course on the bottom when you turn the guitar upside down so they are useless as references. Even then new side markers can be added but I've never bothered with that. A little white-tipped paint-pen can add some simple markers if you really need 'em.
I've been told that the top bracing must be symmetrical for a proper conversion. Larrivee, of course, fits the bill. But I wonder about the top bracing and the layout of the "tone bars" which are laid out in a specific manner to accent bass response; I guess, in theory, the sound of the guitar could be altered when you reverse the string order. I suspect it would not be that noticeable to most ears.
ST, go ahead buddy. grab it and flip it. After all, it's located right there near you. Then I wouldn't be tempted by it any longer.. :laughin:
Mike, sorry, I guess I hijacked the thread too. I'm sure you don't care whether a lefty or righty buys it.
Did anyone mention the headstock? That would look weird with a conversion, and Larrivee has one of the nicer headstocks.
Got no $ for buying guitars, but let me know if you'd be interested in a trade for an original Larrivee parlor.

????? This is a non-issue. The headstock is the same on a left handed Larrivee as it is on a right handed Larrivee.

No worries, Lynn, and the pickguard is something I forgot to mention in my first post - there IS a clear pickguard installed. There are also strap buttons for anyone who cares.

Thanks for the offer, not interested in a parlor - I'd consider a trade for an LSV-11 or an F-III with a cutaway in any wood combination, or a recent Taylor 12 series short-scale cutaway.

ST a new slot must be cut in the bridge for the saddle angle to be correct for a righty. The rest is as you say it.

It could never be sacrilege to put any guitar in the hands of as fine a player as yourself.
Bump for slight price drop - somewhat motivated to finance another git...
Bump for general perplexedness (is that a word?) as to why this hasn't flown outta here!
Is this guitar STILL for sale? I can't believe it didn't sell the first day. I've already got a lefty Forum IV #24 and my OM-03 is just collecting dust now. Just seeing this guitar makes me want to buy another, but I can't play two guitars at the same time so I'll resist the urge. The Forum IV is so comfortable to play. And lively- I think you will see that term used a lot to describe this guitar. I had no idea a smaller guitar could sound so full - definitely bigger than my OM-03 with my eyes closed.
Anyway - I can't compliment this guitar enough...Tuffy you haven't bought one yet?
This is a unique opportunity for a lefty wanting an all Mahogany Larrivee 00. I thoroughly enjoy the sweet tone and easy playing of this little git. I'm on a week plus trip again and my F-IV is the one I travel with. I even take it to the work site to play on breaks and show to others. Everyone likes it. Especially the players.
Tuffy already has two very nice all hog Larrivees. I have seen and heard both of them and I think he is set for life with the nice ones he has.
Someone will be very happy with this one. :nice guitar:
:bgrin: :bgrin: :bgrin:

I tried to aviod and ignore it but just couldn't help myself. I've always regreted selling Joseph my Forum I and now once again feel complete.
Nice going Jeff. I'm sure you will fall in love with the FIV.
So... Mike.. when are you going to divulge what guitar you will be now acquiring ?
Mike, are you going to enlighten us with what you are selling to finance?

Mike, are you going to enlighten us with what you are selling to finance?
In fact, I've already made the purchase using bridge financing...aka my credit card.
It's an LSV-11 which was on ebay, one of two lefties ever made apparently.
I've always wanted to try a short scale, like the LS body size, and wished I'd gone for the cutaway on the FIII, so it seemed pretty close to my dream specs. The guitar is actually now in hand and it's certainly a beauty and it has the most balanced tone of any Larri I've ever heard, but really lacks the projection of the FIIIs. So, I like it but not sure yet if I'm gonna love it...
Mike
I was surprised to see you offering the FIII for sale. I remember at the factory when they broke the news to you that they had screwed up your original lefty FIII and had to start over. You were pretty disappointed until John Jr let you pick out your own set of mahogany back and sides and top for the re-build. That was a very nice set of hog you ended up with. I do understand the attraction to the LSV-11 though. I've seen Danny's and it was a beauty.
Jeff, you're getting a real nice Larrivee coming your way. Looks like it works out for everyone. And we've kept a real nice Lefty Larrivee right here where it belongs.... with a forum member. :thumb

I'm happy to see this work out for you both Mike. My 2cnd LSV-11 was made a bit larger than LS specs and I sold it. Which also was the energy behind me wanting the F-III. At first I wanted the cutaway as well, in RW. The model ricky bought actually.
But when they offered the MH/IS combo I changed my thinking and ordered it instead. I've been happy with my choice. But the LSV-11 is a superb Larrivee. In spite of the lack of projection I believe it is a fine guitar that you will enjoy very much.
I pretty much did the same as Dan, having my L-10 but not sure which combo would sound best on the older LS body. After speaking with Dave Wren about it, that made me switch my order from the RW to the IS/HOG. Will never regret that move. Most comfortable & best sounding guitar I have. The F-IV, a VERY close second & just one great guitar! This is one move you won't regret! :thumb
Jeff, good luck with your new guitar. Again, you won't be disappointed. Just in awe!
Got some good advice from Ttp about an F-II acquisition. Looks like that's in my near future? :nana_guitar

Hey Lynn:
Well, actually, I have two FIIIs - I picked up the extra RW/IS one which is un-numbered and that is the one which I will most likely put up for sale in the near future. I'm keeping my all-hog one, which is one of the reasons I was able to let the FIV go.

Ooops. I need to pay closer attention. I was thinking that you had your FIII for sale here instead of your FIV. I don't know why I confused the situation since the information is right there in the Subject line. Oh well. So, you may still be selling an FIII though. Glad you'll be keeping the all hog one. It's pretty special.
Did these Forum IV guitars come with both the clear and tortiose pickguard?

No worries Mike, if I ever decide I want a pickguard on it I'm sure our friends over at Larrivee could help me out.
Well, I recieved the guitar yesterday afternoon and all I can say is WOW! It is everything I had hoped it would be and more. This little thing is quite a cannon and a tone monster to boot. Very woody, and resonant with that nice Hop Top funky thunk. I could not be happier that I jumped on this and can't believe I was going to pass on it. It's nice to be back in the Larrivee Family again as well.

I am glad it went to someone who will really enjoy having it.
I was playing mine this morning, working on a song I wrote last week and playing while singing the new words. My mother in law, who is 82 and knows "zero" about guitars said. "What makes that guitar sound so good? It is different than other guitars."
I was very happy to tell her all about it. :winkin:
