Can anybody recommend a good book of tunings? I went down to the local guitar shop and they had nothing! I have an old chart that shows 'G' and 'D' tuning .. plus a few more. I figure I'll end up ordering something off the net but would appreciate something that others are using.
Thanks
Al
I'm fairly sure that Mel Bay has a book.I wish I could remember the website a friend went to that had all sorts of stuff but my brain is fairly farted out tonight.Check with Homespun tapes, also search slack key guitar, blues slide.
thats all I got tonight but we'll see how well the brain works tomorrow.
Try this chord-scale-note-printer (http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord-scale-note-printer/)
Do you have an iPhone or iPod touch? Guitar Toolkit is a brilliant app, for £5 ($8) and shows you scsles and chords and fingerboard diagrams for many many tunings (pretty much everything).
It also allows you to input your own chord shapes in any tuning and it names them, which I find useful fir understanding weird stuff from tab. It also lets you pick notes and strum to work chords out by ear. It has 6 and 12 string, bass, mandolin, banjo, uke etc etc settings too.
It is more useful for open tunings than any book I have seen. It also has a super accurate tuner and metronome. Best app I have found for my iPod.
Mark Hansons book on tunings. www.accentonmusic.com
Thanks all who responded. I went online .. which I did before and found nothing .. and this time I went online and found all kinds of tunings .. more then I need for sure. So I appreciate the direction form all.
