Here it is eventually !
I was buying this used guitar 2 years ago, having seen it on an online classified. But I was a bit afraid as it was in Rome(600Km from where I live) and so I could not try it. The seller was asking 600€ then, and for more or less the same money I found my Larrivee OM-2 near home, where I could try it and retire it personally.
I am very happy with my OM-2, but sometimes my thoughts kept going to this brown beauty, wondering if she was still there waiting for me.
So when I sold my Yamaha LL6SB 3 weeks ago, and I found myself morally authorized to buy another guitar, I called the owner and found out she still had it.
This time I offered her 400€, and she accepted ! :thumbsup
When the guitar arrived I was amazed: in real life she is better than in pictures. And when I played I felt it was made for me.
I like her semplicity: no binding, no fretboard inlays (except for the alchemical "purity" symbol on fret 12), simple plain ebony pins.
I don't know if all hogtops sounds like her, but the sound seems to match the descriptions of other Hogtop lovers.
I am an Hogtop lover ! I believe ! :thumb

That is a fantastic looking guitar - it looks a little smaller than an OM, like a curvier OO size. That sounds like a ver very reasonable price for what I expect is a great sounding little guitar!
:thumbsup
Ben (more than a little jealous of this!)
Conrats! Nice box...........
I'll bet it's a real sweetheart. I've never played a Lakewood I didn't like. :nice guitar:
Congratulations! It looks like a OO or OOO size. How does she sound? Very nice guitar!! :beer
:nice guitar: :nice guitar:
Very sweet and sounds like you got a great price. I've played a number of their guitars and always been impressed....plus I'm an sucker for a nice set of mahogany!
Enjoy her in good health!
Blue
looks great...I have an M walnut that will be with me till I die.
Thanks guys.
Well I don't know how the size classifes her, I tried to measure:
Lower bout: 15.47"
Upper Bout: 10.91"
Waist : 8.94"
The depth is 3.74" near the neck and 4.49" at the opposite side.
I really love the sound, it's warm, at the same time rich of basses, but not booming. And I love to touch the top, as the mahogany is rough, you can feel the structure of the wood (sorry, I miss more specific word for this :? )
Maybe it's the enthusiasm for a new toy, but I think I found a keeper
Now I have to find a name for her...
Beautiful guitar and great pictures too. There is something definitely about a hogtop that touches people.
Rob
Superb looker and for 400 euros!!! what a catch.
:nice guitar:
Martin Seeliger builds them good, and yours seems no exception.
I trust you don't keep it unattended on the stand in that room at the risk of "Lego-rash"!
Don't worry Zohn ! I'm very careful (my wife would say "paranoid").
My daughter is allowed to come near my guitar only emptyhanded (or sometimes peluchehanded) :bgrin:
Hey Braxton, really nice little hog top you've got there! Similar to the Cort I just bought, only I suspect the lakewood would be higher quality. :thumbsup
:beer to budget 'Hogtops!
Cheers, Scott.
