I've never seen it or heard about it.
Cyanoacrilate would not be my first choice since it does not have the best shear strength, but it is not an unreasonable choice for gluing over a poly finish.

A picture is worth a thousand words...nice Forum III pic. That's enough for me. Why must we always over-think things? If I could tell the parlor owner myself, I would; "Just play the darn thing and quit obsessing over it! If your bridge is coming up, have a good repair guy (or gal :winkin: ) get it off and reglue it." Done deal. That's sounds easy enough to me. CA glue? That's a new one to me. It makes no sense to use it for this application. In fact, it would be stoopid to use it to glue a bridge unless you were making a FirstAct guitar from China for a 3 year old to beat upon without mercy. OK, rant over :whistling:

Having handle Larrivee's for over 10 years now and having reglue about a dozen or so out the hundreds I've never een one glued with stupid glue.Its very hard to get stupid glue to glue wood as the wood absorbs so much and then it doesn't even hold up to the tension.I just did a glue up on an Olympic which was held on with stupid glue to the finish.It took about 30 min just to remove that thick a** finish from the top of the guitar and another 30 min just to get to wood on the bridge that was covered with the stuff.
maybe a stupid question, but does the finish adhere to the wood enough to stop the bridge, stupid glue and finish together from becoming detached under tension?

Ben not as long as wood to wood with wood glue.Wood to wood in most case's will lift slowly.Stupid glue had a clean break from the finish popped right off as the guy was playing,in his case minimal hand and guitar damage occured.
Good posts, and I never use stupid glue for wood to wood like a brace etc. Just the tiny cracks or special touch up stuff. I'm learning a lot from the forum and then putting it to use with some of my projects.

If you are asking whether a bridge glued on top the finish can tear the finish off... it's more likely that the glue will give before the finish releases from the wood because both the finish and glue should adhere to the wood better than each other(which is why gluing to the wood is generally preferred).
