Title: Any fans of McIntyre Feather pickups
Post by: Dr.Lee on November 20, 2009, 07:19:05 PM
Thniking about a pickup for my 00-60. I have a McIntyre feather in an Alvarez/Yari DYM-96. Sounds great, very natural. Any other experiences with them or other suggestions?
Thanks,
                      Dr.

I'd suggest K&K as well. Mc Intyre Is just down the coast from here and I drove down there and let them put them in 2 guitars. They sound pretty good but not as good as K&K.
The K&K's have more output as well and lastly don't feedback as easily if you play with volume.  They are great people and I enjoyed talking while they installed listening to stories about Jack Lawence and Doc but K&K's are better and a little cheaper.

Bought a McIntyre for my OM-05 and it was too large to fit on the bridgeplate.  Had to send it back.  Would probably be too large for a 00-50 also.  Many of the Larrivees have smallish bridgeplates with too little room for some pickups.

I have one in my Alberico OM and i like the sound fine.  It does have a lower output compared to other pickups, and needs an external preamp, such as the LR Baggs PADI.
