Title: Unwound guitar string for the G
Post by: Danny K on October 26, 2009, 11:26:57 AM
On the top 3 strings I at times I like to slide from the upper frets to the lower.  I like the sound of the E & B, but do not care for the noise produced by the wound G.  So I'm thinking of trying an unwound G (24) string.  Who has them?

You need to check with your local store's to see if someone has any in stock or if they can be ordered. As far as I can remember the unwound strings from most companies don't go any higher then a 20.

It will have a lot more tension than a wound string. I'd keep the wound G and work on changing you instead of the strings. Sorry to be blunt...that's how I roll.

Hello!

I am curious...what noise are you refering to?

Are you getting a buzz from your G-string?

Cheers

I think if you went to an unwound string, a smaller diameter string than the wound you are replacing would be in order.
