Nope, I live in the burbs of Toronto. Stayed at home today anyways.
We were supposed to play today in the Beaches as part of the Canada Day celebrations but the whole thing got cancelled due to the strike.
Oh well. I lounged around the house, mowed the lawn, posted on some boards, played with the dog and played three different guitars over the course of the afternoon. Not a bad day. It went by too fast.
Happy Canada Day from all us Commonwealth Downunder

Thanks fongie!
A belated happy Canada Day to all!
I spent the day (and will continue until Saturday) working a local 4 day festival. Matt Anderson headlined last night and blew the place apart. He`s on his way to the Jazz Festival in Montreal, so anyone in that area should make the effort to check him out.

He's playing on the 10th at 19:00 and 21:00 at athe Blues stage.
As for myself, I cleaned house, went cycling and spent a few hours at the Jazz festival.

Yes we do Walkerman, 'Australia day'. I presume it's the same as Canada.

I'm one of those old fogies that wishes Canada Day was still called Dominion Day. That was a great, evocative name. "Canada Day" is boring, bland and bureaucratic.
The old name was scrapped in the early '80s because the forward thinkers of the time felt that it was too reminiscent of our colonial heritage. And it's true that for many years before Canada achieved complete constitutional independence from the UK, it was formally called the Dominion of Canada. But so what? It's part of our heritage, and the word itself has beautiful biblical roots: it comes from Psalm 72:8: "And he shall have dominion also from sea to sea." You don't have to be religious -- I'm not -- to find that poetic and evocative of the huge spaces of our country.
Nice sentiment Tycho, but "dominion" has also come to mean having the right to exploit and abuse.
This is 3 days late... Happy Birthday Canada!
ricky
I'm one more time zone to the left... that's why i'm one more day late!

You know, I had actually forgotten that it used to be called Dominion Day. Wow and that wasn't that long ago.
