Title: Ls Body Style
Post by: charlies3 on November 11, 2003, 01:05:34 PM
What's the deal with the Larrivee LS guitars?   Are they still manufactured?    No mention of them on the website.   I'm looking for a slightly larger guitar than my parlor but smaller than an OM and think the LS should fit the bill?   I played one once a couple years ago and thought it was great.   Couldn't afford it then?  Is this a custom order and is that likely to break the bank?

I own a parlor, LS-10 & OM-10. They are very different from each other. The LS-10 is very sweet sounding - very balanced. My OM, by comparison, has much more bass. I've always heard that OMs have the most balanced sound - but I think my LS beats the OM in this respect.

Also, I guess it would depend on what style of music you are going to play. I play only fingerstyle - and I find that some songs just fit better on one or the other.

The LS is probably the most comfortable guitar to play for extended periods of time. The OM seems really big by comparison. Haven't played an 00 - so can't tell you how those feel.

Keep an eye on eBay. Every once in a while an LS-09 shows up - and for some strange reason they don't seem to garner much interest. I guess it's the unfamiliar body size.

The LS is available by custom order, but I keep a few of them in production all times. You can custom order LS and LSV Models in the -05, -09, and -10 levels. Very nice mid size guitar. It feels a little smaller than an OM but it actually pretty similar in size. Funny how curves play tricks on your mind. The price is the same as the equivilant L and LV models ($1749 to $3198) so you have lots to choose from.

That's great information, thanks everyone.   Matthew, since it's not posted anywhere, can you tell me the dimensions of the LS body?
