Well, I think we need to keep the Larrivee Guitar Forum tradition of providing Donuts and pastries for all of the Employees at the Vancouver site. So if you PM me or E-mail me (see my profile) I will give you my Post Office box address to mail a check or money order to. I'll post the amount received and all the money will be spent on Donuts and juice etc. for the good folks building the Forum III guitar for us. Danny
(20 people giving $5 would be good)

Thanks for organizing this....Mike
I'm in, but will give it to you on March 16. Is that US$5.00 or Cdn$5.00? :roll

This will be fine for those going to Vancouver anyway.
Can anyone who is actually going setup a paypal so that we can start the thank you fund? I'll donate.

Did you read the first post?
I meant the donut fund. I just find paypal easier to deal with than mailing things internationally. I guess it's just my generation's obsession with the virtual. :thumb

Send me your mailing address and I'll pop $10 in the mail to you.

I'm in!
hope you can take my 5$ on the day too...
for donuts in Vancouver i might think of Lee's Donuts on Grandville Island, they have been making donuts for decades now under the same owners... great donuts...
or;
for old skool fancy pastries. the "Bon Ton" has had great stuff since the 40's...
or;
for world class (and world class $)... Thomas Hass pastries near the old factory in North Van...
and all this from diabetic that can't/won't touch one!
If it helps i can do some legwork... but no sampling ;-)
d.
Danny - d. - Can I come too! Tad
Randy, money sent using Paypal. I'm still hoping to make it there for the tour March 16 but wont know for sure for another week so wanted to at least get the money moving in the meantime. Great idea on the pastries for the Larrivee team.

Worst case, you have to buy too many, and eat the extras yourself... :whistling:

I just sent you a Paypal payment to be put towards the donuts, etc.

If you wind up with too much $ you could always leave it for future donut runs. Or stuff it in holly's LS-III. :laughin:
I'm still trying to get my head around the idea of too many donuts -

I had a very pleasant conversation with dermot today. We talked quite a while. We have an idea for the donut run. One thing I have thought all along was to include some healthier stuff like bagels, juice maybe cream cheese...or even some lox . Anyway Tad, between the three of us I'm sure we can get a good balance of donuts and goodies to the Larrivee team.
Including some good Tim Hortons Coffee...well I'll have to try it since y'all say they changed. So we may have to find a better source for Java.
It's not too late for some more to make the trip. :donut
I talked to Wendy this morning and she said that the factory has about 40 employees. So I figure we will get enough to stuff about 60 with goodies and that should make sure no one is left out. :donut :donut2 :coffee
I also received the first $10 in the mail today from Mary (Thanks) I'll post more as I receive them.

That's not a bad idea. We could have a little card that says from the Larrivee Guitar Forum and list the members forum names who donated, to the craftsmen at Larivee. I can compile the names off of Randy's list and mine, plus Vancouver and include the card with the donuts and pastries. What do Y'all think?

A little update, we have more ''snail mail'' donut $ coming. I think three more have PM or e-mailed me. As the $ come in I'll post it.
I had a request to "buy some pastries" and I think that is a good idea, along with the donuts. Tad also mentioned some Java and my wife said we can get those large containers at Starbucks with cups and such. Also some Juices. So I wanted to let everyone know we are well funded for this and we can "do it up right."
I noticed that 40 employees was confirmed in the facebook F-III thread also. :donut

Well, I guess $156 plus a few more $$ donated in Vancouver should buy a pretty fair amount of coffee and pastries. I heard that we should expect to have about 25 - 30 Larrivee folks on site when we are there. If we are a little short I'm sure we can come up with additional funds. Maybe have to open the guitar case down on the corner and ask people for a donation to get us to stop playing. :laughin:
Another thought is...
1) Buy donuts for the number of employees who are there.
2) Buy a Tim Hortons gift card with the remaining cash for those who are not there and ask John Larrivee to buy the shop floor donuts with the gift card when everyone is back from their break (the following week). You can put the gift card in an envelope with a nice thank you card signed by everyone who attended the tour.

I think donuts are not all we should bring them, and a few of us have discussed bringing coffee, pastries, juice etc. I think we can still do both. I plan on giving to this and I know others are still wanting to chip in. So I hope no one gets offended by giving more than donuts. Actually other members have requested this also, just to let all know what's going on.

Hey Danny,
Just don't get any donut crumbs in my soundhole...

Jordan.
I called John Jr. today and then went down to the factory with my wife. He thought it would be best to buy all the employees sandwiches.
So Monday A.M. we will do a donut/pastry run and then John will tell us how many to get for lunch and where to buy them.
I will also get some nice cards. At least two, one for donuts and one for lunch later. He thought the sandwich idea was better than gift cards. (Though we could still throw in some for the remaining employees who are not there on Monday)
Danny :donut
Oh yea my F-III looks and feels real nice :guitar
We're heading out to Timmy Horton's for the early morning run. I got $10 more last night total , from Lynda and Tad.
Dermot is coming by with T the P to pick up Tad and I and then later in the day we will buy some nice sandwiches for the whole factory also. And I have a very nice card from all of us at the forum per Randy's request.
Danny
So we met up early on Monday morning. d. gave us all a ride to Timmy's and we robbed the place (see pics...man in black holding the bag)
It was fun for me, a little embarrassing for some, but I think the employees there enjoyed my enthusiasm.
I had a hard time trying to explain what a "bear claw" was, so you see a gesture my hands like bear claws in one pic.
We got a few dozen donuts, a dozen muffins, 8 big ole cinnamon rolls and maybe something else. I was the only one to get coffee there, and I liked it A LOT.

Also dermot, Eva and Tad I think brought over two large coffee dispensers with fixin's for the shop. That was mid morning.
Then John Jr. and I went for sandwiches for all the employees at lunch. I also went to Starbucks an hour or so later and brought another big container of Java with fixin's. We had all the employees buzzing on caffeine for sure.
Tuffy,Tad Dermot and myself signed the card which we gave John Jr. early in the morning with the donut run. It was clear that the card was from all the forum. Tuffy wrote something and I drew some pics on it.

I just wrote "With heartfelt thanks from the Larrivee forum family" more or less. They knew that the food, coffee and thank you's were from us all. I asked around a bit afterwards and I know that they all enjoyed the treats very much and expressed thanks back to us for thinking of them.
This is John Larrivve when we were on the way to the factory with the sandwiches.
I was not able to get receipts for everything purchased for the employees because some were purchased by others and I would just press some cash into their hands and tell them that the forum had a fund for this. At one point when there was a moment of inactivity I added up around $175 U.S. was spent.
A five or ten Canadian was given to me in the midst of lots of activities and I was trying to keep track, but frankly though my heart was to account for every cent spent, in the end it became a blur of motion. I do feel however that all the $ were spent that were donated for the Larrivee employees.
Also I talked to most of them one on one throughout the day and they expressed their thankfulness to us over and over. Which I of course returned from us all.
It was hectic at times, but it was fun :donut

The Bearclaws are frosted in powdered sugar if you find them in Canada, aren't they?
When we moved from Ottawa to Shreveport Louisiana we surprised at how many people really thought we had Polar Bears in the streets. We just told them that customs would not let us bring our pet Penguin into the states.

I've really enjoyed reading the posts and seeing the pics that came out of the tour. I think they really show the great sense of community on this forum and that Larrivee is a special, family business.
