I'm still regretting not getting one of those at the time, so I did not appreciate seeing that this morning!
Is it my computer sound out of the laptop speakers, or is David Martin regularly out of tune in his demo playing?

Ah but now you have a second chance. Forget the house, sell the wife, get the guitar! :winkin:
The koa binding is a very nice touch, but the tuners look out of place... All in all, why pay that price for a fancy 03 when a used, but still mint, high end L can be had at the Fret for a couple of hundred less?:

If you're not in on the forum git, then why don't you grab this. You only get so many chances you know.
Oh I think the gold 510 contours are lovely. Sweet guitar!
I agree with you Ducktrapper, I had to put a set of the same Delta tuners on my LV-03RE when I first saw those last year. I think they make the guitar very interesting, but heavier. Love this version of the LV-03R, but mine is now two years old, and has opened up very nicely.
Clifford
That is a very nice looking LV-03R. I like the whole package, just can't play one that large anymore for very long.
I had a used, mint LV-03R that only cost me 625 or 650 I think. Best buy yet for me in a Larrivee.
Dam, that's nice. How could they overlook that'n?
If this had gloss finish, it would be gone.
At that price in satin? Hmmmmm.
Beautiful looking git for sure. I like the tight grain of the spruce. And oh, Larrivee makes perfect, yes perfect-looking backs; some would think it's a 1-piece back.

indeed they are. They give it a very clean look.
I'm in the market for a new set of tuners and i was leaning towards the wood buttons but after seeing that, i may be able to be talked into the gold ones. Beautiful!!
I put chrome deltas on my D05 and they are beautiful and functional. I wouldn't recommend 21:1 ratio tuners to anyone who uses a lot of alt tunings, though.
It's now listed as being on hold.
(Not by me!)

Well, sometimes they probably would like us to "Vanish". Guitar forums are a mixed bag for dealers and builders. I don't mean to be too serious here. Danny

Yeah, that's probably fair comment. I think people are on the whole pretty honest here, so if they want us to vanish, they probably aren't providing a good enough quality service. But I suppose customer service vs making cash is a tightrope to those who don't have an established 'name' like the frequesntly mentioned sellers on here.
So Duck, do you have this one on hold? Inquiring minds want to know. :roll
Not me. I'm kind of flush with guitars right now. I don't have an acoustic with a cutaway though.

That's why I ordered my FG3 with a cutaway - that would be my only one with a cutaway.
The 30th Anniv LV-03R TF sure is sweet - BTW, the "TF" stands for Tuffy :+1:

Yeah, he could string it back to front and play some great bass runs with the cutaway on the top Ricky!!! :humour:
sorry Tuffy, no offence meant, in reality it must suck having a limited choice of guitars, especially special editions.
That's what he gets for being ... sinister.

That's just not nice. Don't you know that left-handers are born that way ? It's not a choice..it's in the genes :roll

Don't feel too sorry for me.. I have my 000-50MT and a Forum III on the way..... It doesn't get much more special than that !

I thought it was a 'Work of the Devil' sort of things that Nuns beat out of you. Were there no Nuns available?

I'm left-handed but I play right. I learned from a book when I was 12. It said "hold the guitar this way", so I did.

Sadly, no, there were no nuns where I grew up. I was probably 7 or 8 when I first saw a nun while visitiing another town with my parents. The way they were dressed was so foreign to me I didn't even know they were real people. I asked my dad what they ate and he told me they ate Pureena Nun-Chow. No, I'm not makin' this stuff up.
My Mother was a first-grade teacher and, try as she might, she could not get me to hold a pencil in my right hand. I was an obstinate little -CENSORED-...... Not at all like I am today. :whistling:
Tycho
I learned out of a book too. I just figured the book was wrong.

Sort of...but it's also true!
I'm like Tycho, a lefty who plays righty. My reasons are pretty simplistic too. My brother Mitch started playing 2 years or so before I did. He's a righty. When he upgraded his acoustic from an old Yamaha classical to a hog top Washburn (that was a sweet, sweet Japanese made one!), I inherited the Yahama. Since as a poor college soph, I couldn't afford a guitar of my own, Mitch gave me the Yamaha to learn on. It was the only guitar I played for the first three years of learning. Those 70s vintage solid topped Yamaha classicals were great guitars for the money. I think it was $50 used.
It was really that simple. I've never regretted the choice to play righthanded and didn't really give it any thought at the time. Since then I've seen it as a blessing, because I have so many more options in guitars than I would have otherwise had. While writing this, it came to me that I don't know a single lefty in my area that plays lefthanded! I know one guy who plays righthanded guitars upside down.
I'm also a lefty who plays right handed because I was given a right handed guitar and my father is also a lefty who plays right handed. I think it affects my playing though, as I'm pretty near useless with my right hand.

I know a guy like that too...and he plays fingerstyle! Watching him is a mind-bending experience, as he plays the melody lines with his thumb and the bass lines with his fingers.

The jazz guitarist Marc Ribot (who played on Tom Waits's
Raindogs) is another lefty-who-plays-righty, and I read an interview with him where he insisted that it affects your playing in subtle ways.
On the other hand, I once asked my old teacher if he thought there was any disadvantage to it, and he said, "Did you ever see a left-handed violin?"
The nuns saw that I did things the way the good Lord rightly intended so ... they only beat me when I spoke.
I'm not a lefty and this is only a theory but I wonder if it would really make much if any difference for a lefty to learn right handed.
Playing guitar requires intricate use of both hands, Ive never seen a beginner not have problems with learning to pick the strings regardless if they were using a pick or their fingers. Same goes for fingering the strings. It is a skill that must be learned using both hands. Of course this would apply to a right handed person learning to play the guitar left handed.
I guess what I'm getting at is I think it's a psychological barrier brought on by the fact that there are many things that only require the use of one skilled hand so the dominant hand is the obvious choice. Remember Paul Wittgenstein (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Wittgenstein). Which also asks the question, have you ever seen a left handed piano?
And then there's the guy that plays guitar with his feet.
I think we limit ourselves unnecessarily, you really can do just about anything if you try hard enough and practice (muscle memory).
Obviously some are more skilled than others, but I think the person with average skills is going to be average whichever way they learn.
Of course if your a lefty and you think you could do better left handed then you should get a left handed guitar and use the positive thoughts to your advantage.

:+1: Highlights the fact that IMHO, we're getting a
VERY fair price on the Forum III's. The typical Italian Spruce upcharge is probably pretty close to the surcharge for the cut away...

Actually, the price difference is not that dramatic. This LV-03R 12th Fret is $1950 CAD which is the same price for a FG III LSV-03R with the full herringbone.
It's now marked sold.
This is so weird - I posted a year ago about getting one of these (#3) and at that time they still had one left (#4) So either they forgot about it for a whole year or it took them that long to list it on their website! Here's my original post:

EDIT: I paid significantly less than the price listed for #4.

On the 12th fret site they mention that it was just recently discovered in their basement. Nice find, eh ?
