Title: My Santa Present
Post by: gskar on January 01, 2009, 06:46:00 AM
Happy new year everybody. Santa has delivered my new guitar, a cedar-rosewood mini jumbo custom made for me by Labis Panagiotis
(www.theartofwood.gr). It has a satin finish, ebony fretboard, rosewood bridge, maple bindings and a slotted headstock. The scale is 25,2 inches which suits my small hands. The construction is very clean with some minor details that show that it was made from a human (some vey small dings on the side of the neck and a very small at the top) for which I don't mind at all. The neck has a near perfect shape for me.
But the most important thing is the sound, full of harmonic content, round , strong, sweet and almost perfectly balanced. Now I can play many different things with one guitar. And the guitar is only 1 week old.
Here are some photos and a youtube video, and a happy new year again
George

It is just a little deeper and wider at the bottom than a larrivee L but I find her comfortable to play. The L is a little longer in length and the neck is far from my body which makes it less comfortable

:nice guitar: I have an affection for Cedar/Rosewood guitars for fingerstyle, and I love the slotted headstock. What's the width at the nut, and the shape of the neck-profile?  :donut

Sweet guitar and beautiful arrangement. How cool to get accolades from Joanie Madden.  I always enjoy listening to your playing, keep up the great work.

Happy New Year,
Roger

The nut width is 46 mm but it gets wider towards the body. The neck shape is (I think) U. It has a little chunky profile (not  very slim) but it feels solid.
Happy new year

Well this is one of the best things that happened to me in youtube. I was very very happy with that message. The other two comments that made me really were from Jacques Stotzem and Al di Meola's percussionist Gumbi Ortiz. I don't think of myself as sometrhing special but there are times I wish I was not living in Greece. Fingerstyle guitar is the last thing a guitarist wood do in Greece.
happy new year

It's sweet!  I love the rosette and the maple binding.  Very nice.

Wow!  I'm very impressed by this one.  Even through the low caliber of my speakers, the quality of that guitar is most evident.  Your description of the tone "full of harmonic content" couldn't be truer.  Very beautiful playing, too, matched well by the beauty of the guitar.

Hey GSKAR I lived in Greece for 3 years when I was a kid. (age 12-14) I lived in what was a small town at the time  called Nea Kifissia
(that probably wrong spelling) I really loved the country and the people.

George.

That's some very nice playing.  Very pretty/sweet tone.  It has some ringing highs.  I really like that.  It is just a beautiful guitar.
