Title: Schatten Pickups
Post by: mikey007 on October 21, 2008, 03:08:24 PM

I am looking at putting a pickup into my larrivee. My dealer suggested this pickup.

The active version, with the preamp.

Has anyone ever heard of these or had any experience with them? Any feedback would be great. Thanks

Mike

:thumb  I seriously considered them for my LS-09 and LS-19. They are highly regarded, but I opted for L.R.Baggs i-Beam because they are very similar, have comparable reviews and I got a better deal on them.

I used the Schatten Artist in my 000-50 and it was wonderful.

I use K&K, IBeam active, Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker, Fishman Matrix, etc. in other guitars and they work well and all are different.

Schatten has a new version that updates the preamp. New features include volume control, ability to add another pickup and phantom powering. Chances are that's what is going in my next installs (Bourgeois DBJC and Larrivee JCL 40th Anniversary). The Schatten with the Rare Earth will be a very nice combo, IMHO.

Boy-o-boy, g'day, I sure like this system. Very simple to understand and installation, glad you brought it to my attention. I was thinkin' like a headless chook lookin' for a pickup to install in my C-05. Cheers.

How does it sound compared to other pickups such as the ibeam or the K&K?  Or even the ES?
