Well, I tried very hard to love the OM-05MT but it just wasn't what I had hoped for as a fingerstyle guitar especially. That, and the 00 is making hard to want to play anything else.
I am back on my "give rosewood another try" kick. I shipped out the OM-05MT yesterday and as soon as it reaches it's destination, a brand new L-03R will be coming my way...
I had a mahogany L-03 that I sold to ronmac a while back and miss the bigger size/volume/bass..I'm hoping a rw L will mean more of all that including overtones and sustain as well.
Here we go again... :humour:

Oh come on...I'm nowhere near as bad as fitness1, right? Sorry Todd... :humour:
Quotemiss the bigger size/volume/bass..
Denis, I'm curious, do the OOO-50 or 60 , or SD-50 or 60 not appeal to you ?
As a SD-50 owner, I know from experience it is a wonderful guitar for fingerstyle...
as far as ' volume and bass '...
sometimes when I play, my neighbor says, "Hey, can you turn down that amp !!! "
I say, " I'm not using an amp. "
He says, " shut up " :humour:
Is it the 1 7/8 neck that you don't have an interest in ?
I've not played the 000 but it has a slightly smaller neck, 1 13/16 isn't it ?
It would be bigger than the oo, and have more volume and bass.
I enjoy listening to your youtube stuff and think your fingerstyle would sound wonderful on a SD or a OOO.

The MT would be a hard one to give up I'd think - but I admire your ability to not hang onto too many guitars.
I have a LV-03R in the stable (from another forumite). It is my only rosewood, and it is a great all-around guitar. You won't go wrong with it, and it seems like they come up for sale used at really good prices pretty regularly. I actually tried to sell mine when there was a more interesting LV for sale, but I couldn't get the price that would have made me feel good about selling - especially since I knew the one I have is great, and I wasn't sure about the other -
I'll look forward to a new video from you once you get it - :cheers
Tad
I'm always sorry to hear about a hog leaving the stable but I had a feeling this wasn't a good fit for you since your initial post about it....that 00 has you spoiled..
Who did you move it along to? Anyone we know?
I look fwd to seeing if the R is a better fit.
Cheers,
Blue
Sorry the hogtop didn't work out for you, it sounds like an L-03R will be exactly what you are looking for, a sweet sounding piano-like guitar that fingerpicks well.

Hehe, that is exactly what I tell myself! Sorry Todd :winkin:
Denis, I was curious on how you would like the OM-05T. I had a OM-03MT a couple years back and it was a beautiful guitar but I didn't keep it long. Not enough bass and in general not responsive enough to my light touch with bare fingers. The hog tops do take a while to begin breaking in though. I liked the 00-50 much better, especially in terms of responsiveness, volume, and bass.

Ok OK You're right!....but catching up :bgrin:

Sorry It didn't work out with the OM-05MT.
The OM-05MT was beautiful but it didn't have that responsiveness that I get with the 00-50. It was strong when strummed hard but would have taken a little while to open. Larry, I had considered the 000-50 and have tried the 000-60 before but when I saw the 00 with it's 1 3/4" nut and the rarity of finding one new, I had to have it. It may not have the volume and bass of the 000 but it does project very well. The SD-50 is one I've tried but I was wanting something smaller, more comfortable to sit with on the couch. I wouldn't give up the 00-50 unless someone was giving me something really nice in return.
I've had several MT type guitars and they've always been nice but are no longer here. The Martin OM-15, 000-15S and the Larri parlor...this is the only one I really regret selling. I've come to realize that I like a sprucetop more than anything else. They are a more complete tone.
Seems like if you want a real "Larrivee", the unique L body is really the one to go with and the rw body is more the standard Larrivee L than any other guitar in the catalogue.
I've owned several nice Larrivees including a couple of parlors, an LSV-05 and the 00-50 is by far, the nicest of them all...nicest guitar I've ever owned actually.
My LV-03R is the only one I really regret selling, I offered to buy it back, no deal. But it's in the hands of a friend. I think you will enjoy yours , it is JCL's recipe. Danny

:+1:
But now is the hard part begins...the wait...the anticipation. I just sent the OM out yesterday and the L won't leave until it gets there. I've got another guitar to play obviously but just knowing there's another on the way.... :crying:
