Title: Larrivee OM-03R (SOLD)
Post by: oldrockfan on July 21, 2008, 11:24:17 AM
I just bought a new Gibson acoustic and so will regrettably be selling my trusty Larrivee OM-3R. I bought the guitar new and have only used it in my smoke free home. The guitar is in great condition. Frets are still in great condition. Guitar still looks great and plays nice too. It had a pro setup done on it when I bought it and has been a great guitar. Comes with the original hard sided larrivee case also in great condition. I'm going to miss it but I promised the wife when I bought the Gibson that I would sell the larrivee so got to keep my word.

Will sell the guitar for $775 $750 obo shipped anywhere in the continental US to a forum member. Payment is paypal or postal money order only. Or if you are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, I could do a local sale for $750 $700 cash. Here is a pic of the guitar. I'll load up more pics later.

For those that asked for more pictures, I took some more pics tonight so you get a better look at it.

original case plus original paperwork and truss rod adjusting tool

a shot of the neck. It has very little fretwear as I fingerpick mostly

shot of the label inside. Was hard to get my camera to focus on it

nice straight grain on the spruce

I've always liked the grain pattern on the back

a shot of the neck joint, no issues and never installed strap button

back of headstock, holds tuning very well

front of headstock, no issues there either

let me know if you have any questions. Would rather sell here on forum than listing on ebay and have a month before I need to pay off new guitar so not a huge rush but would like to get it sold so I can get that credit card charge paid off quickly.

Danny, I went with a Gibson LC-1 cascade which is another rosewood/spruce OM sized guitar only with cutaway and elecronics. Thought about trying a different wood combo this time but after trying a bunch of different styles, decided I like the sound of rosewood and spruce the best.  My new axe looks like this http://www.gibson.com/Products_Euro/Gibson%20Acoustic%20Guitars/Gibson%20Acoustic%20Guitars/Small%20Bodies/LC-1%20Cascade/

Wow, Looks like a Gibson version of a LSV. I bet the size specs. are similar being a Gibson L. My old Gibson B-25 is a L body. Let us know how it plays, I was about to order a new Gibson L size at "artist" cost but did'nt. I don't regret it though because I wound up buying my LSV-11. Thanks for the reply and I think your guitar should sell easily.  Danny

Danny, the gibson hasn't really opened up yet so would not be fair to compare it to the larry which is nicely broken in. I expect the gibson will sound similar once it fully breaks in. I mainly got it for the convenience of the cutaway and electronics with a nice built in tuner. The other reason I went ahead and bought it is I got tired of watching the price of acoustics go up every year and thinking I should have bought one last year before the price increase. So I pulled the trigger when it went on sale recently even though I only had half the cash saved up. No worries though since I have about a month before interest charges kick in.  :winkin:

My LSV is far from fully open. It is extremely tight in the wood grain and High gloss, But I get the fun of helping it get relaxed and opened up.  Gibson is one of my favorite builders. Keep us posted (don't tell anybody but there are others here that like them).   Danny

I've had folks asking about the guitar and a couple offers but no deal yet so here is a monday bump with a price drop. $750 shipped anywhere in the continental US. For Dallas/Ft. Worth members, I'll do a $700 local pickup cash deal.

I've had folks say they want to buy but nobody has actually bought it yet so it is still available and I would like to get it sold this month so I can pay off the credit card i used to buy the new gibson. Let me know if you have any questions about it or need additional pictures, etc. It is truely in great shape in every way.

Well it only took a month, just in time to help make that CC payment.
There are a few threads about Gibson's that keep going, so post a little about your latest gibby and let us know how it's working out. Take care,   Danny
