Title: Best ONLINE dealers for Larrivee???
Post by: DJ in FL on October 04, 2007, 10:01:35 PM
Sold my OM-3 and am ready to move up... want rosewood and basic electronics in smaller size of OM.   Have looked at OM-9 & OM-9E, but like the extra inlays and look of Larrivee OM-10 or OM-10E for a few $$ more.  I have read all the technical stuff and played a few locally.  Obviously they all have great look and sound.

Although I would like to buy locally, play the instrument before purchase, etc. the prices of the big box stores is stuck at much higher level than my wallet and budget permit.

From regular reading on this forum, MANY seem to have routinely recommended:

Guitar Adoptions
Notable Guitars

Am asking about set-up, shipping cost, tax, case and return policy.  Also understand they have 24 hr to 3 day playing trial to return instrument.

Anything else to ask about?   Anyone else to consider purchase from that is as "competitive" and with a good service reputation among members?

Thanks

You should also look at Trinity Guitars.  I have never heard a bad review.  Top notch Larrivee Dealer.

If I buy a new Larrivee online again it will be from Dave! (Guitar Adoptions)
I've had great luck with the guitars I've bought from him, the guitars sounded great, he picked out a guitar with a certain charateristic I wanted and played it over the phone, and I even like his phone voice!

On buying online:
Don't complain about how a guitar looks if you've never seen it or asked about its appearence.
I would specify that the guitar has to have plenty of saddle left.
Personally if I were paying for all that bling I would ask to see pics of the actual guitar. I mean your getting charged for the better/fancier looks, I would make sure the wood wasn't ugly or something.

My experience has been with Jason at Notable Guitars and with Elderly Instruments.  Both great places to do business & very service oriented.

Here's a link list of all the previously mentioned dealers and several others.

Additions to my list are welcome.

I'll add my support for Jim at Trinity, I have bought from him many times and have always had a firrst class experience. I have also bought a couple from Wildwood Music in Ohio. Different approach, they only take check or money order, and you call to order. Their inventory lists are posted online and updated periodically. Don and Marty are great people who carry an excellent selection of Larrivees and other great guitars.

Bought 2 guitar off Jim, only one Larrivee but I recommend him for sure.  I've also purchased 2 guitars, both Larrivees, from Dave at GA and I, again, recommend him highly.  Jason at Notable, I've never read anything but positive comments about him.

I've purchased three Larrivee's (two for myself, one for a church) from Jim Holler at Trinity.  I can't recommend him enough.  I think all the dealers mentioned so far are great.. but the added perk with Jim is that he's an actual luthier with an abundance of guitar knowledge.  He'll set your guitar up to play like a dream before shipping.  But to be honest, you really can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned dealers.

Any of the above mentioned are sure to satisfy your guitar wants, needs, and desires  :nana_guitar

I have personally bought a Larrivee from Dave at Guitar Adoptions and he sent it to me while I was living in Japan without a problem.  He guarantees that his prices can't be beat and will match anyone (for a new guitar).

I would also say check out the for sale section here as there are a lot of pre-owned Larrivee's listed here at good prices.

Good luck and let us know what you end up getting.

I BOUGHT A OMV 10E FROM DAVE AT GUITAR ADOPTIONS
THE GUITAR CAME IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS IN PERFECT CONDITION AND SET UP WELL.  HE MET THE BEST PRICE I COULD FIND.
I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE.

I  WOULD BUY ANOTHER GUITAR FROM DAVE IN A MINUTE :thumbsupjavascript:void(0);

If you live in a state that has a sales tax, you'll save that amount by buying out of state....i.e. if you live in California, and buy from a California seller, you'll have to pay CA sales tax.  On a high end guitar, that can really add up.  If you buy from an out of state seller, you won't have to pay the sales tax.
