Title: Case for L09
Post by: L-09 Picker on September 02, 2007, 05:41:28 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm going to be moving overseas and don't want to use my original L-09 case for the transport.  I searched this forum and found a few posts on the topic.  On 3/31/07, hatofthecat recommended a Gator GPE-Dread, which looks good.  I'm not looking for an upgrade.  I just don't want my original case to get banged up.  The Gator looks good.  Does anyone else have any suggestions?  I'm hoping for the ~$100 price range.  Do you know how much a case from Larrivee would cost?

Thanks in advance,
Greg

I have a Larrivee case in mint condition that would fit an L series guitar. It housed my L series spruce/koa model that I sold several years ago. The buyer did not need a case so I kept it. It is like new. I'd like to get $125 given the condition. If you are interested please contact John at:  anomasil@kingston.net

Look also at the Calton cases. http://www.caltoncases.ab.ca/

Good, sturdy cases.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.  I decided to give the Gator case a try.  I don't need a bullet-proof case and the price seemed right.  I hope I don't have any regrets!

Thanks again,
Greg

QuoteI decided to give the Gator case a try.

Well mine's been fine so far  :thumb   Is a pretty tough case just make sure you pack behind headstock in case of whiplash.  I've cut lengths of "FRAGILE" packing tape and stuck on each side of the case just to make it obvious and also always use a security seal tag in addition to padlock so I can tell if its been interfered with.  Airline check-in staff should be able to direct you where to drop off your guitar so it doesn't have to ride the full baggage roller coaster.... the nice lady at Heathrow told me there's a shear drop on the conveyer belt behind the regular check in desks in the domestic flights terminal !!!!  :doh

Also do check your instrument insurance.  Mine has explicit cover for damage or loss during transport, left in trunk of car, hotel rooms..... watch for those small print weasel clauses  :cop:
