Title: Would the OM-3R, L-O3R, or L-03E be best for me?
Post by: bamacrazy on June 19, 2007, 10:52:51 AM
I am buying a new Larrivee. I have an OM-3R on order, but it has been delayed. During my wait I have been reading a lot about the L being much better for strumming. As that is what I will use the guitar for, I am tempted to switch. My dealer has offered to allow me to choose between two Ls that he has in stock, an OM-3, or I could wait for the OM3R. Any suggestions?

I love the L body size. and yes, it will be superior to the OM for strumming, but what i like best is the L for soloing and fingerpicking. I am 6'4", and the L is a great fit, and though smaller than a dread, packs a killer punch. granted the OM will be a bit more comfy, but I no longer gas for the OM size, the L has become my all around, go to, no GAS for any other, guitar!

thumbs up for the L-03R, the R adding a little depth and character to the tone....but a regular L-03 hog would be sweet too. i got lucky, blesed with a walnut L-03.....be careful though dude, total GAS killer..... :bgrin:

If you are mainly strumming, then yes, I think you will be happy with switching to an L.  Either one is great, I would go with rosewood if given a choice.  I love the overtones.  My OM-03R is my #1 guitar, but if I mainly strummed, my L would be #1.

I vote L for the strummer, I have strum my L as hard as I could imagine (just to see how it handled it) and it was clear as a bell.

I mainly fingerpick so either works for me, although it's mostly OM at the moment. :guitar

Thanks for your input guys. I'm going with the L-03R. It actually worked out that the OM was delayed as the L is on hand. Jason is setting it up as we speak and will ship shortly. Oh heck YEAH!  :nanadance

Just wanted to say welcome and Roll Tide. Nice to see another Bama person on board. I recently acquired an OM-03. In a way, I wish I had held out for an L also.

Congrats on bringing another Larrivee into Ala. But be forewarned. If you go to Auburn TAKE YOUR OWN ICE. The girl who had the recipe graduated. I had to drink warm sweet tea today! :humour:

Slowfingers,

How does the OM 3 compare to your M6 Gloss in regard to tone and playability?
