Title: Luthier in Philly Area
Post by: jwsamuel on April 22, 2007, 02:09:12 PM
Hi...

Does anyone know of a good luthier in the Philadelphia/South Jersey/Central NJ area who is good working with Larrivees?

I just bought a used OM-50 and the action is way to high for the amount of saddle that is there. According to my measurements, the neck angle is off and a reset is in order.

For setting up my L-03MT, I went to Rich at Bluebond Guitars (511 S. 4th St., Phila. - just north of South St. on 4th - 215-829-1690).  I'm not sure about him doing a neck reset, though he can adjust the truss rod.

For more serious work, you can try Vintage Instruments on Pine St.  Expensive, but they do great work and their store is something to experience.  Also, if their internal workload it too big they won't take on outside work.

I hope this helps.

Steve Duritt, Lou Mercuri Music, Burlington, New Jersey.  609/386-2740.  Super nice guy & very capable with reasonable rates. Immaculate shop. He's the only one in New Jersey I let touch my guitars. A bit of a backlog now, but well worth any wait.
