you may get some buzzing with the xtra lights, but when you go back to lights next time it'll be fine.
thanks for that
Return the extra lights to the store and exchange them for lights. I don't think there is a price difference. The extra lights will have much thinner tone on your L05. If you want to play the extra lights, you might get some buzzing as the tension will be lower and the neck will lose some of its relief. So a small truss rod adjustment might be in order. Nothing a slight turn won't fix.
I'd take them back too. I tried XLs once and boy, did they sound like crap. They're too hard to play in tune as well, unless all you play is power chords.
What is the explanation for extra light strings wanting to "buzz?" Thanks.
Lighter strings reach the intended pitch at lower tension. So, they will vibrate through a larger range. Lighter strings need a higher action to allow room for that larger vibration range.
sent back and now have lights :thumbsup
