Title: wtb: Gibson J-45
Post by: dadeedo on November 14, 2006, 02:13:29 PM
I'd like to buy a 5-10 year old j-45 or southern jumbo.  I'm interested in tone and playability.  A few character marks are not an obstacle, provided there's been no abuse.   Electronics are irrelevant.   Send pictures, info on the history of the instrument, and asking price to me at mlew@wi.rr.com

Thanks,

Darrell

12th Fret has a 1956 in stock, although it sounds like you're not looking for one quite so vintage.  This one ain't cheap and it's got serious defacement issues.  However, I played it for a few minutes and it certainly has The Sound:

Go here and click on the link to steel string acoustics:

I'd probably buy it if I had the room and the extra cash, but right now i've got neither.   :<>

Note that they also have a 2001 J-35 reissue, which is a lot cheaper.

Jim @ Trinity sold that J-45 almost immediately after it was listed!  12th Fret's J-45 is beyond my budget.  But thanks for the tips, guys.  If anyone else has or hears of another 5-10 years old with great tone and volume, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.
