Has anyone installed an JP armrest on a "L"? How close does it fit? I'm kicking around the idea of getting one of the rosewood armrest for my L. If I had to do some reshaping it would be OK but I don't want to do major surgery. I'm hoping to increase the comfort of the guitar. Thanks again to all!
I have had an armrest on my L and it is not a perfect fit, but it doesn't take much shaping to complete.
There are PDF templates on the JP site that you can print full scale to check the fit. http://www.jpstrings.com/armrest.htm

Ron,
By "shaping" do you mean with a bandsaw or with sandpaper?
In the case of the L body I only needed to use a bit of sandpaper to shape the outer edge of the armrest to match the contour of the lower bout on the guitar. I have used my dremel tool in the router table config to do more radical surgery (shaping a full size armrest to a slimline profile).
Thanks Ron.
Ron, Do the wood armrests have a finish on them?
No, they seem to be just fine sanded. Ebony is very hard and dense, so it doesn't show the open pores that a lot of wood does when unfinished.
I have had no problem making them look like new after some sculpting to size.
Thanks for the information Ron.
I have put them on larrivee OM, D and L guitars, never reshaped any of them.
