OK I like the size of the -14c Taylors but I really want a Larrivee. Now my question is...are the OMV Larrivees comparable in size to the -14c series Taylors? I asked the guy at my local music store in Columbus, Ga. and he had no idea cause all they carry is Taylor. Can anyone help me?
Thanks so much!
Dan
I think an LV is closer. I have an L and it has much better volume than a taylor 14 series (which is my favorite Taylor Body style). The L also has much stronger base.
Definitely the L! The V if you want the cutaway. The Taylor 14's are called Grand Auditoriums. The Larrivée L is the best example of this shape and size if'n you ask me. Until JL started to make a guitar like this, nothing really like it. At least not in every day production.
Larrivee L body = 14 Taylor
Larrivee Om body = Taylor 12
Larrivée L body > than the Taylor 14. ;)
Biggest diff is Taylor x14 has 16" lower bout; the Larrivee OM is 15"; the L I believe is 16". I agree with Johbren's analysis. It's the lower bout size that got me to sell off my x14 in favor of smaller bodied guitars...

That's how I landed on Larrivee to begin with. I A/B'd a Taylor 314 and a Larrivee L03. My guitarshop guru put one in my hands and I played, then he took it and handed me the other and I played the same thing. I did that over and over. It was clear to me that the Larrivee had the superior tone but the Taylor was much easier to play. So I bought the L03 and had it set to the action specs of the Taylor! I don't think I've desired a Taylor since.... except maybe the T5....
