Good morning everyone
I am considering buying either an L-03 or OM40 - both with Sitka Spruce Top and Mahogany back & sides.
Please share your thoughts/opinions on these two models and differences etc - I know the bracing patterns are different.
Thanks a lot!

Trivia contest....
What forum rule specifies what a newbie should bring to the group, hopefully on their first post, in order to assure a warm welcome?

Rule number 9
Way to kill a new Larrivée player's enthusiam completely.
Admin could you please remove my post and delete my profile?
JTF, you may have been kidding but don't sweat it. I have not posted donuts, didn't at the start, still haven't. Lots of good info around here so do stay tuned.
Can't respond to your specific question, however, 'cause I've not played those two specific Larrivee's.
Owned them both (LV-03), love them both. Different guitars so they are hard to compare as it's very subjective. Play them first if you can!

Oh poor you. Way to make yourself a victim.
Eegad folks. Any chance we can be a little more welcoming to new people even if they didn't read all the way down to forum rule #9 that states one must offer poisonous sugar circles?
The forum is pretty dead as it is. The guy comes on here seeking Larrivee information and he's slapped in the face with 'you broke a rule!' I know the dog nut thing is a long standing tradition. And, it is not so obvious to the newbie to do it.
Humans are hilarious.

As are people in a hurry to be assholes.
Do you think that was his goal?

Seem to be something you're good at
This thread is getting pretty distressing.
I was liking this forum and love my Larrivee, but this is not a good look for the forum as a whole.
I will be taking a break, as now I am not sure that I am welcome here or that I want to be a part of this.
I would recommend that the posters of the flippant and downright rude comments take a good look at themselves and decide if they too belong here.
Bye

I definitely regret responding to the original poster the way I did.

Thanks Mike. Might have been a bit rough but certain other comments here shouldn't have been posted. Besides, I prefer croissants to donuts but don't see an imogi
Ain't it funny how we all have been following some much more bizarre rules than this site ever had for almost a year and a half and very few people have rebelled against them? They'll shut up and wear their mask but refuse to offer some symbolic donuts. Rules? We don't need no stinkin' rules! Just sayin'. :beer
People are too easily offended these days.

I think it's something to do with getting out of the wrong side of bed. Isn't that what they used to say? (HUMOUR)....... Just in case

Funny. Besides all the humor, you know what else there's a lot of going around these days? Just in general? The idea that
yours smells and
mine doesn't. :cheers

I have a 2005 L09. I like it better than my friends cedar topped OM. That might be the Cedar, either way I like mone better.
To the original poster, I hope you are still with us.
My first Larrivee was a flamed maple parlor and it led me to the L body which I think is Larrivee's finest, most versatile design. I ordered a Custom LV03 12 string with a Mahogany top. It works well for fingerstyle and strumming and my son sometimes uses it for slide. It really works well with Reverend Gary Davis and Leo Kottke tunes. I chose this guitar over Martin, Taylor, Guild and Yamaha 12 string models. 15 years later, I opted to order a Forum VI 6 string Model LSV.
I think the OM is a great choice too and even though I don't own one, I have played quite a few. My Larrivees have generated several additional sales from my friends and acquaintances.
The wood selection and workmanship that go into Larrivee Guitars will stack up against anyone's.
