Your 03R would likely just get jealous and bitter, Neil! Plus... give David Martin an "acoustically accommodating" room and a couple of decent mics and he'd probably make an Esteban sound like a $1500 guitar.

Well, from what I heard and from what I've heard the specs are on this (4" thick, just like my OM-03R) the LSV-03R 12th Fret has a LOT more bass. While I love my OM-03R (for a variety of reasons not just limited to tone) I've always thought it could use more bass though.

how awesome would it be to see 00-03 or 000-03

Outside of that particular recording, I'm going to be surprised if that actually turns out to be the case, tho. I had my LS-09 at the same time that I had the OM-03R and while the LS *was* a fuller sounding guitar, I wouldn't say that it had a LOT more bass. I can't imagine that shifting the bridge to the center of the lower bout is going to produce THAT much more bass. I'll find out next wednesday or thursday, tho - that's when mine arrives.

The bass on my Laughlin is just a little bit deeper than my old LS-09 and my Tacoma parlor has slightly less bass than the Laughlin. It'll be interesting to compare the LSV-03R to those two when it gets here - all three are, more or less, the same size:

Larrivee LSV-03R (12th Fret Special):

  • Lower Bout: 15"
  • Upper Bout: 11"
  • Waist: 9.75"
  • Depth @ Tail Block: 4.25"

Lauglin:

  • Lower Bout: 14.75"
  • Upper Bout: 10.5"
  • Waist: 9.75"
  • Depth @  Tail Block: 4.125"

Tacoma Parlor:

  • Lower Bout: 15"
  • Upper Bout: 11"
  • Waist: 8.313"
  • Depth @  Tail Block: 4.75"

Man... I wish I hadn't just sold my Peluso mics. I'm currently down to just the mics built into the Zoom H4.

When you say depth @ heel do you mean end pin?  The depth of the LS-03 at the end pin is supposed to be 4".

Oops... Yea, my brain was disengaged when I wrote that. I meant depth at the tail block! I'll fix that original post. In this case, I'm comparing the 12th Fret Special version, which is a bit deeper at the tail.
