Beautiful guitar, Danny.

What's written on the label?

Nope...I bet it's #6!!!   :humour:

(But I noticed the same thing ... it's a lefty!)

P.S. Frank - what are you getting installed/modded on yours? I'm just getting the saddle (like everyone else) and an Active iBeam pickup, tortoise guard.

I wished my #18 is not in any pictures there because it must have left Jim's place enroute to my house  :nanadancehouse

IT'S HERE ... TODAY !!!

CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

And it is GORGEOUS!!!
(Just like Danny's)  :arrow  :arrow

The mahogany on all of these seems to be fairly dark - is that the nature of the wood, or the satin finish, or did Larrivee give it a "tan" somehow?

I don't care what the answer to that is - this thing is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Label says:
Jean Larrivee
Guitars
FORUM IV
6 of 29
"Vancouver, British Columbia"
"Canada"

The sound:
It's a brand new guitar, remember, but it sounds very good already (it's gonna be great, I can tell)...one thing I like (is it the hog top?) is that the trebles are well balanced with the other strings...there's a strong midrange. The low E string may take a little time to open up more - a little muted right now. But here's what I really like; you can really thump on this thing without overdriving it too quickly, either with a pick or with bare thumb and fingers...a blues machine indeed!

:gotpics:
Pics later!

I'm going with bone saddle & nut + colosi bone pins. No p/guard installed. I just love the hog top too much.

Remember the pic from the factory? There were quite a few that were darker in tone than the others.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.  :laughin:
I just received Fedex tracking info on my FIV. It'll probably take a week to get here so I'm sure I'll be losing a lot of sleep waiting.

I have never had a guitar shipped directly to me before. It's coming to California so should I wait to open the case when it finally arrives?
If so, how long should I wait?  :nana_guitar

Oh Snap!  I just got my e-mail confirming my shipment.  So excited!  Hopefully this is where living in Memphis will come in handy.  Fed-Ex owns this town.  They can just teleport it here right?

I will also say, Jim did a GREAT job on the set up with the new saddle...thank you, Jim.  :+1:

I will lower the nut slots a little later, but the action is at a good, all purpose level. Neck is nice and straight.

I'm wondering if these are medium strings...either that, or I've just been playing too much electric lately, and have to get my hands back in shape!  :crying:

I'll need to change the strings anyway to put the battery in for the Active iBeam (I tried plugging it into a tuner to tune it right away and thought, "Hey... what gives here? This thing isn't working!" Duh - then I remembered, Larrivee doesn't ship guitars with batteries installed!) So no report on the iBeam yet...

Once again, can't get over how purdy she is!

Its customary to let it sit for at least a week.  No peeking.

She is purdy (even though shes backwards).
Didn't Jim put in the I-Beam? Did he send the battery in the case?

I think his assistant is putting in the pickups (according to one post here recently). Yes, the battery and battery back were in the case compartment, along with the clear pickguard (which I requested he throw in) and other stuff.

I figured if I was that extreme I wouldn't need the  :humour: sign

You should be able to open it right up, enjoy.

Mikeymac, Your guitar looks beautiful and the p/guard actually looks good on it.  :thumb

So how long should I wait to open the case? I'd like to know up front so I don't risk damage.

if the out side temp is about equal to the inside temp then you should be ok to open up straight away,if there is a difference then wait a couple of hours untill your guitar warms up or cools down, then open up,also keep in mind if it is a late in the day delievery then your guitar most likely was sitting in the van for most of the day,and those vans can get very hot inside if its a warm day.

I can almost smell that mahogany Mikeymac!!!  OUTSTANDING!!!  I can't wait!  I would love to see it sans pickguard...put the clear one on if you need to but let that mahogany come through...

Congrats!   :nice guitar:
