New 24 series

I see that the new 24 series are out. Sweetwater has an L body & OM version.

I didn't know they were going to be L bodied, just thought smaller bodied only.

Man, I gotta get one in my hands to try out.

I really wish they'd just do more OOs with the parabolic bracing. I say this but I have a feeling their OM is best for me, personally, and I love their parlours. It's just so rare to see an OO.

Some people are really particular about scale length, I've always played and adapted to the guitar and appreciated the differences.

I think this series will carve out a nice revenue for Larrivee.

The 40 series I assume had some Martin design cues and the 24 has some Gibson, but each have a Larrivee flavour.  Seems like they can identify what people want and can make high quality guitars without having to give you a softcase or cardboard box and a low cost facility overseas guitar. 

I particularly like the vine headstock, tulip tuners and Adirondack features.  Interesting they kept the sawed off headstock like the 40 or traditional series instead of the Larrivee paddle or something else.

I really like the Larrivee paddle shape of their original headstocks.  The sawed off top of the 40 series always looks too severe with it's sharp corners.  just my personal taste.

These are really beautiful instruments.  The sloped dread is particularly nice to my eye.  Great job, Larrivee!

I love the rosette and purfling on these... not crazy about the tuners. But alas... I have a 00-44 somewhere in the build process. Looking like September for me.

Well, a several months wait for a Larrivee isn't too bad if you already one. And it isn't just Larrivee. I play lefty and usually buy my instruments new. Visiting sites like Sweetwater looking a lefty instruments, I'm amazed at how many instruments they picture and when you click on the instrument it says, "We can get it". I talked with a guy at Sweetwater and asked how long it takes to get it. He said Larrivee about 4 to 5 months, Martin 3 months, and Taylor a little less. I wonder if the economy is having these places keep their inventory low. Sweetwater does have two 24 series available now, but not left-handed.

Over the years, I've been on the Martin factory tour multiple times and Huss & Dalton once. On 6/21, I had the opportunity to visit the Larrivee factory in Oxnard for the first time and see how and where the magic happens.

Since I first saw photos of the 24 series online, the specs caught my attention. The care that goes into choosing, cutting and processing the wood is only the first of many steps in the build process. I also got to see first hand the construction of the 24 series including the bracing. The Radial Wood Rosette and Top Purfling, the Tulip Tuners and Pyramid Bride look even better in person than the photos capture. I have a 00-24 on order and it will compliment and fit in between my maple parlor and walnut LSV03 nicely.
