Low E, 5th fret.  4th and 6th frets ring out just fine.
I just noticed it after a string change.  May be the strings?
Just seems strange that everything else sounds fine.
Suggestions?

By low E do you mean the thick E string or the thin E string.

PRS semi hollow electric

That would be a "A" note. How does the open A sound?  Did you change string gauge? Are you tuned to pitch or are you tuned a step or two down?

Mea culpa.  I guess low could have two meanings in this case haha!  Yes, the thick one.
I'm tuned 1/2 step down and the open A string (Ab now right?) sounds fine.
Same strings as before.

FWIW - they're Ernie Ball Earthwoods, medium light.  They're 80/20 54-12 strings.
Really basic strings, nothing fancy.  Cheap too.  Will probably change them again to see if that's it.
Thanks,
Tom

Every guitar I have owned has/have a weak spot, where it does not resonate well.

If you tune back up to standard pitch, does it happen at the 4th or the 5th fret?  If the 5th, it's a fret issue; if the 4th, it's an issue with the Ab frequency on that string.  (And I've now exhausted my knowledgebase.)

I've found that changing string brands and size can go a long way in tuning out dead spots.  Tuning is the biggest way to shift dead spots but I don't think it's reasonable to change your tuning for a problem like that.

First thing crossed my mind was a low 5th fret. Have you tried putting a capo on 2nd or 3rd fret and seeing if the note is still dead?
Larrivee OO-05 • Larrivee OOV-03 SS • Larrivee OO-44  • Taylor 322ce • Strat • Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/jpmist

tuned back to standard,
tried with and without capo (I first noticed it with the capo on)
put new strings on (helped some)
I fear it's just a soft/dead spot
I have not put a straight edge on the frets yet but will try that too

still my favorite guitar so no worries
