I probably bought that book around 1989, and I still have it.  And I'm STILL hopeless!  Let me know how it is, I might need to try it again now that I'm not a kid!

I bought a harmonica a long time ago and in about ten minutes became convinced it's an absolutely impossible instrument to play.  Good luck.

I can play a little but mostly straight harp. I want to get this cross harp thing. Then I need to figure out how to do it on a rack.  :?

Here's some bad harp playing. Dylanesque!

I started playing harp when I was 13. First song learned was Heart of Gold and just played it over and over until I was doing same thing Neil was doing. Then I just started playing along with Dylan and Young on tons of stuff. For blues/cross harp I just figured out myself that you used a harp 3 letters higher. (A fourth up)and started playing along with blues records and blues/rock. Canned Heat, early J Geils. Learned to bend by using tounge to block holes. Straight or cross harp it's kinda hard to go far wrong if you stay in the middle. Over time you learn how to skirt around on the upper and lower ends. What I'm basically saying is that for me just repeatedly playing along with records and figuring it out worked well. And over time don't even have to think about it. Much easier than guitar or mandolin. Try just playing and exploring. That also includes making stuff up both straight and blues.  Cross harp jam https://youtu.be/WuROzvjdqIg?si=57mOjwpweZycY5dg  and heres some straight.  https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13662157
10-1614 more than a number, it's body and soul.

I have missed you.
Both the clips are great, but "Waitin For a Friend" is just bullseye Flatlander.

Yep, that's sort of what I'm doing. Messin' around. I can do some of that and understand the theory but not on a rack. My lips want to stick to it. Good stuff Matt!  :cheers

I wouldn't to do any of this if I hadn't left my musical partner in Canada. Tom's a good player.
