I agree with Queequeg. The fact that they still call it 'practicing' medicine is a good enough reason alone to get a second opinion.

FWIW, when I had surgery in May to repair two major tears in the rotator cuff on my right shoulder, the best rehab didn't come from physical therapy. It came from playing my guitar. I started with my Martin Backpacker, advanced to my Larrivee Parlor and progressed to my L body and dreadnought. The motion of draping my right arm over the lower bout was the best therapy for increasing range of motion. Start slow, i.e. 5 to 10 minutes and gradually increase your playing time. Also alternate between heat and ice on the elbow. It worked wonders for me.

Losing muscle mass is a pain. I always tell myself that when I try to open a jar of pickles.

I'm done with doctors, except doing there service and repair of there guitars.I lost so much muscle mass that a birthmark on my left arm has moved 3 inchs towards my elbow.

We lost power here in Pennsylvania last night from the storms. Luckily, my Larrivee runs on finger power, and it works in fine in the dark.  :guitar

Hope no one got too beat up from the storms across the Midwest and east coast.

Wow, this is a name I've not seen here in a while.  Are you still playing your Larrivee?

My guitars are packed up and put away now.
Trigger thumb on the left hand. I've had this thumb immobilized in a splint for a week now. I start occupational therapy on Tuesday morning while I await a cortisone injection which incredibly I can't get until March 09.
Icing it and taking ibuprofen and Voltaren gel to reduce the swelling.
In 2016 I had a trigger thumb on the right hand.
Couldn't pick up the guitar for over six months, which culminated in hand surgery. I'm not going to wait that long this time.

Dang, man, hang in there.  Hope you are up and playing again sooner than anyone expects.

Thanks, man.
I'll get through this.
I'm optimistic (as always).

Still alive and almost well but still having fun. :bgrin:

I truly believe that Mr. Hank Williams would have been a Larrivee player.

Gday Rob, I went through a bit of an Electric phase for a while there, got a few nice examples, Strat, Tele, Les Paul....

But I'm getting back into acoustic. Still got my Martin OM-21, I've owned that for 15 years now. That's a record for me keeping a guitar by a long shot. And last year I picked up a really nice Martin HD-28.

No Larrivees at the moment. They're pretty thin on the ground here....

I keep hoping and keep my eyes peeled for a 00 or 000-50...

What about you Rob?

Cheers, Scott.
