I have two Larrivees; a P-03 and an L-03R.  I recently got the L-03.  I was under the impression that 03 models were all satin finish, but the L-03 is glossy.  Mind you, it isn't "high" gloss; but definitely glossy.  Was I wrong about the 03s being purely satin?  Could the previous owner have buffed it to a shiny finish?  Just curious.  Thanks.  And I've noticed you've been eating a lot of donuts, so I'm sending you something healthier:  a dancing banana, catch him and get your potassium.  :nanadance

Maybe Larrivee had a weak moment and buffed out a few of the -03s. I've got a late '07 vintage L-03 (Sapele) that has been shined, too. I always assumed the previous owner couldn't play it so he shined it (there's something in my memory about marines, women and spit shines... but that's a different story).

If it shines, it's a REAL guitar!

Schenk Ophirio (Sapele/Cedar)
Bourgeois 00 Custom (Mahogany/It. Spruce)

If it's used, I'd say there's a good chance someone buffed it up.
