Title: My New Om
Post by: dbirchett on October 02, 2004, 03:25:05 PM
Just got a new OM-03K from Rob. Beautiful guitar and a great deal from a great guy.

The back and sides are beautifully matched and are quite flamey. The top is really nicely silked and is very responsive. The bridge is really stripey and the fingerboard and peghead have a little striping to them as well.

The pictures don't show it but I have a bone saddle, tusq pins, black tuner buttons, a Larrivee picguard and a Dean Markley Sweet Spot pickup.

Any way, enjoy the pictures. I've just finished masking the guitar to buff it up.

I got the OM on Friday and "Orsinoed" it on Saturday. I used the Meguiar's for all 3 steps and really like the results. Once again, while there is shine, the change is more to make the finish, in Sue's term, lustrous.

These pictures came out a little darker than the guitars. Here is one from the front:

This shows the back and a little of the side.

This, shows the family resemblance between the Koa and Blackwood, both of which are Acacia trees.

Thanks again to Orsino for hosting and especially for suggesting the polishing, providing all of the info and support.
